notre-dame burning is honestly so heartbreaking, not only because of the fire itself, but because of the history and architecture, and the role it has played in Paris’ history.

notre-dame has been the pinnacle of gothic architecture in europe and in the world at large for such a long time, and seeing 850 years of history, architecture and art go up in flames is one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. notre-dame had such a huge importance in paris’s history, and the art in the cathedral such as the rose windows from the 13th century is going up in flames, and it’s heartbreaking. the fact that notre-dame burning is a huge loss for our history.
